The annual fiesta brought together old friends and new ones. Guests bid on more than a hundred silent auction items while listening to live music performed by Nicaraguan Juan Bautista Ruiz and his music partner. Everyone gathered for a tasty tamale meal catered by La Loma.

Professor Eric Selbin, the main speaker, wove personal stories of his connection to PML into his talk about the revolutionary process and current political climate in Nicaragua.

The live auction was introduced by First Universalist Church's Youth Cultural Exchange chaperone Matt Lindon, who gave a brief summary of the July youth trip to rural San Carlos.

His report set the scene for updates on developments in the community from PML Director Elizabeth Moreira, visiting from León.

Auctioneer Tim Owen then motivated guests to generously support PML's community development work in the live auction. PML surpassed its goals: $3,000 in matching funds to purchase land for a youth recreation field and $5,000 to support digging trenches for the clean water project in San Carlos.

Thanks to staff at Church of St. Albert the Great, where the event was held, and to the dozens of volunteers and auction donors who contributed to this important, festive event.
